Precision dropped the car back Saturday lunchtime.
All sorted. Took her out for a run Saturday afternoon and the car feels fantastic. Handles so much better, breaks are responsive and the clutch is nice and light.
Still a few rattles in the car. Need to track those down.
Started planning the AVIC-F930BT install. Going to leave that until the weekend I think.
Also done some more investigation on speaker upgrades. Looks like the Alpine 4" speakers seem to be the ones to go for, Going to take one of the speakers out this week and check out the mounting.

Latest Update from Precision
Got a call Wednesday from Johnny at Precision. They were test driving the car and the low oil pressure problem came back. they've investigated further and found the problems actually a faulty alternator. Which was also causing the whining noise through the speakers.
So they are replacing that.
Got a call this morning saying th car is all done and they can return it to me today. But missed the call. ARGHHH
So going to ring first thing to see if they can bring it back tomorrow.

Upgrades
Posted on 911UK forum for suggestions on next upgrades.
Top of the list seems to be a PSE Mod. Basically they run a small pipe from in inlet side of the muffler to the outlet so it bypasses the muffler, but only really kicks in when the revs get up.
AND SOUNDS AWESOME !!!!
Here's a link to the details on the 911UK forum http://www.911uk.com/viewtopic.php?t=66202
The XENON upgrade could be problematic I'm told as it might result in an MOT failure. So might not go there as I don't really use the car at night much.
Creeping up the list is also and AMP and Speaker upgrade. Found a company that do a speaker kit for the 996. From the research I've done Porsche made it really difficult to upgrade by using lots of non standard components.

Still No Car
Well precision still have my car.
Sorted pretty much everything now
So the list
1. Front Diagonal Arms Noisy - No problem Found
2. Clutch is heavy and creeks - Diagnosed as fault clutch pedal bushes - Fixed
3. N\S Mirror not working - Knew about that - Loose Wire - Fixed
4. A\C not working. Compressor not cutting in. N/S Condenser fins corroded, but not leaking. Probably just needs a re-gas - Leaking Condenser - Fixed
5. Pertol Cap o-ring needs replacing - Fixed
6. Very Slight play in front track rod arms. - No Fault Found
7. Front Disks fitted wrong way round - Yeah I Know.HOW !!! - Disks and Pads Swapped Round - Fixed
8. Exhaust Box Seems splitting but not blowing yet. - Doesn't need replacing yet
9. Front Wheels on wrong way round. Directional tyres fitted. - Fixed
10.O\S\F Break pipe fitted incorrectly and kinked - Brake Pipe Replaced - Fixed
11. Front tyres scrubbing. Geometry setup - Fixed
12. Damp with oil from 1-3 chain tensioner. Seals - Seals Replaced - Fixed.
They also found that the oil pressure was reporting low. Thankfully only a fault oil sensor - Fixed.
They can also replicated the knocking noise when I turn hard right but haven't been able to diagnose yet. They are going to have to take some panels off to get at the steering rack etc to check that out.
The good news is Clive at Mr911 is pretty much covering the costs of it all. I've agreed to pay for one of the A\C condensers that hasn't failed as if 1 has failed the other isn't going to be far behind and makes sense to do them together.
So maybe have it my the weekend. I hope.

So Hows it Going
Well, haven't really driver it much. Sat in the garage over Christmas.
Took it out for a blast this weekend though and started to 'find' it's limits. Had a great blast round some of the back roads out the back of Baldock and Wheathampstead.
I;d been up the golf range before and was in a foul mood after a crap practice session. But after the drive that was all forgotten.
The car is just fantastic to drive the grip through the corners and the way you can get it to power out of them just puts a huge smile on your face.
Well, precision has it now. Hopefully get it back in a week with everything sorted.
Considering getting them to fit a short shift kit to it while they have it. told it makes a big difference to the drive.
And, have all the bits for the head unit upgrade. Got a Pioneer AVIC-F930BT sitting in the other room and all the fitting kit and wires ready to go when I get the car back.
Few other upgrades I'm considering
New Shiny Exhaust Tips. Probably quad pipes rather than the dual-ovals on there.
Something like this

And possibly some smoked LED Rear Light Clusters
I think they'll look great on a black car.
Also considering a XENON front headlamp upgrade as the standard halogens are rubbish and maybe a Exhaust Bypass Mod.
And finally once I have the head unit in I'm thinking of some speaker\amp upgrades as well.
Belated Update
Been a while since the last post. Forgot I started the blog :-)
So things I've done.
Body Detail.
Went over the whole body with a clay bar and removed any surface containments.
Machine polished out some of the worst scratches
Gave it a good coat of wax.
I'll wait until the weather warms up a bit before I do a full body machine polish.
Rear Seat
Stuck down with Velcro strips
Suspension Noise
Took it into JZM to check out just before Christmas. They could positively identify the problem but I got them to give the car a check over whilst they had it.
Bit of a list
1. Front Diagonal Arms Noisey
2. Clutch is heavy and creeks
3. N\S Mirror not working - Knew about that

11. Front tyres scrubbing. Geometry setup
12. Damp with oil from 1-3 chain tensioner. Seals
So. Bit of a list. Can't believe the disk brakes. They said they have L&R stamped on them. So really not sure how that happened.
I got back in touch with Clive at Mr911 and took him through the list and he's got Precision Porsche to come pick the car up this morning to check it all out and see what needs doing.
Could be an interesting discussion about what Clive will and will not cover.
Hopefully Precision can give it a going over tomorrow and the fun can start.

Week 1
So 1 week in and I'm over the moon.
The car is simply brilliant, everything I hoped it would be. I've got to say I was slightly apprehensive in case it didn't stack up to my dreams.
You know what they say about never meeting your hero's !!!
At first the few little rattles bothered me but once you start to drive the thing you just forget you're in a 10 year old car. The handling is fantastic, the responsiveness of the engine is spot on. The driving experience is just spot on. It's precise and tight.
I haven't pushed it to hard yet whilst I get used to it but what a car. I love it.
Do I wish I had PSM now ? Nah, not really. there is just so much grip you'd have to drive like an absolute nutter to need it. Maybe if this was my main car and I'd be driving it in the wet I might have second thoughts, but as this is my fun weekend car. It's fine.
So I'm loving the car but there are a few minor problems that i need to sort out.
1. Passenger wing mirror motor isn't working.
2. one of the rear seat pads is loose.
3. Bit of a clunking from the front suspension at low speed. Probably drop links need doing.
4. Whilst the body is clean it has a few scuffs and scrapes that need attention.
5. Interior, again whilst clean, could do with a bit of a detail.
6. Air-Con. Not that cold. Need to get it checked. Probably new condensers. Ouch !!!
7. That PCM1 and Handset has to go for a modern unit.
So I've started to make a list of jobs and mods I want to do.
